Aviation experts are trying to determine how a stowaway traveled to Paris on a flight that left New York last week.
Svetlana Dali, a 57-year-old Russian national, sneaked into a Delta Airlines flight to New York JFK International Airport without a boarding pass on November 26 and flew to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, apparently hiding by spending long periods of time in the plane's multiple toilets.
Police boarded the plane at Paris airport as soon as it landed, according to video from a passenger who was shared on social networks. “It’s the captain. We’re just waiting for the police to come on board,” the pilot can be heard saying.
Dali was arrested when authorities discovered she did not have a valid visa to enter the country, the French national police said in a statement last week.
On Wednesday, December 4, she was deported to the United States and arrested by the FBI. The charges against her have not yet been made public and she is scheduled to appear in Brooklyn federal court Thursday afternoon.

Two previous attempts to expel Dali failed. ABC7 News in New York reports that she “I started screaming.” after boarding a plane on November 30. Fox News reports that a similar scene took place on December 3, and she was also kicked off that flight after she started howl“Please help me. I don’t want to go to the United States.
How did she get on the plane?
Last week it emerged that Dali was able to pass through an advanced imaging technology body scanner at JFK Airport and avoid document and identity checks during the security process.
A TSA spokesperson told CBS News in a statement that “a person without a boarding pass was physically examined without any prohibited elements. The individual bypassed two ID check and boarding stations and boarded the plane.
Delta has remained fairly tight-lipped, however, telling USA Today in a statement that the breach occurred during a “deviation from standard procedures”, but without providing further details. They also insisted that their infrastructure “is healthy” after a security review.
“Nothing is more important than issues of safety and security,” Delta continued. “That is why Delta is conducting a full investigation into what may have occurred and will work collaboratively with other aviation stakeholders and law enforcement to this end.”
A senior law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told CNN that at the door, Dali was placed in the middle of what appeared to be a family traveling together.
How did she hide?
A passenger said that Dali was moving between airplane toilets during the long flight, he tried to avoid the flight attendants.
“I heard the flight attendants talking about it with the pilots,” New York real estate broker Rob Jackson told CNN. “They said this person was in a toilet and then came out and went to another toilet and stayed there for a long time.”
