Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca believes Moises Caicedo has what it takes to compete with some of the Premier League's best midfielders, placing him alongside That of Manchester City Rodri and Arsenal Declan Rice.
Caicedo has been a fixture in the Blues' Premier League campaign so far. The midfielder has made 16 appearances in the 2024/25 season, adding one goal and two assists to his tally. His efforts helped Chelsea secure second place in the current championship standings, seven points behind the leader Liverpool.
His success was enough for coach Maresca to name him alongside some of the best players in the league, drawing comparisons between Caicedo and Rodri, winner of the Ballon d'Or.
“He is sure that he is now at that level,” Maresca told reporters ahead of Chelsea's clash with Tottenham Hotpur. “Without a doubt. Unfortunately, Rodri is injured [with a knee injury for the rest of the season] but Declan plays. I think Moises can sit at that table with that kind of midfielder.
“Because of Romeo [Lavia] injury and Enzo [Fernandez] At that time we used Moi as a midfielder. We used him as a right back in the last game and we can expect to see him there in the future. Of course, that could be an option. »
Maresca also delivered a message to fans following Chelsea's successful start to the campaign.
“We are very happy for the fans,” he continued. “Absolutely because they deserve to live this moment. They can dream. We are very happy. We work every day to make them also happy and proud of the players. I have said it many times, I don't think we let's be there or ready to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool and [Manchester] City.
Chelsea travel to face Tottenham Hotspur in north London on Sunday and hope to close the gap on leaders Liverpool – who are clash with Everton postponed Saturday due to unfavorable weather conditions.
