Guwahati: Assam’s vibrant Sattriya tradition will make its debut on the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. A 40-member troupe of Majuli’s Aauniati Satra troupe will carry out conventional Sattriya dances, singing and drama, providing a singular glimpse into Assam’s wealthy cultural and religious heritage.
The troupe will carry out performances of Ram Vijay Bhawna, a devotional play by Srimanta Sankaradeva, together with diha naam (group singing) and apsara dance, accompanied by conventional devices like flute, violin, khol, cymbals and dotara.

The performances will showcase each female (Stree Bhanji) and masculine (Purashik Bhanji) dance kinds.
