Cockpit fumes drive Hawaii-bound flight to return to Seattle

Fumes within the cockpit of a Hawaii-bound flight compelled the airplane to return to Seattle Airport shortly after taking off Monday afternoon.

An airline spokesperson informed FOX Enterprise that Hawaiian Airlines Flight HA21 returned to Seattle-Tacoma Worldwide Airport after departure attributable to cabin fumes. He was heading to Daniel Ok. Inouye Worldwide Airport in Honolulu.

The captain declared an emergency to get precedence therapy and the Airbus 330 landed at SEA with out incident, the airline mentioned.

Medical personnel and firefighters greeted the airplane on the gate and all 273 passengers and 10 crew members disembarked safely.

As soon as the airplane was cleared, Port of Seattle firefighters boarded the airplane to research and located no smoke or odor, airport spokesman Perry Cooper informed The Related Press.

Flight 21 left Seattle Tuesday morning in a brand new airplane.
