Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Australian teenager Rylan Brownlie, according to reports.
The 17-year-old is a product of A-League side Brisbane Roar and has played 12 times for the club at senior level, scoring one goal and one assist.
Arsenal and Liverpool dealt a heavy blow to the pursuit of the Crystal Palace prodigy!
However, he left the club in the summer in search of opportunities abroad and has been training with Crystal Palace ever since.
The striker is the son of Royce Brownlie, who had a brief spell in England at Swindon Town and Chester City between 2007 and 2008.
Crystal Palace to sign Australian talent Rylan Brownlie
According to Football InsiderBrownlie did enough during his time with the Eagles to convince them to sign him permanently, with both sides apparently already in agreement.
The 2007-born starlet won't turn 18 until February and will likely join Palace's U-18 team directly, who currently sit eighth out of 13 in the Premier League South U-18 table.
At the higher level, Crystal Palace appear to be turning a corner, with their 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Tuesday meaning they have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
That run took the Eagles through to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup – where they will face Arsenal away – as they climbed to 17th in the Premier League and are just three points behind West Ham United, 14th.
Next up for Oliver Glasner's men is a clash with reigning champions Manchester City at home before traveling to rivals Brighton – followed by this EFL Cup showdown with Arsenal.
Austrian manager Glasner is also targeting the January transfer window, recently informing reports that he intends to see Winter work on the Palace ended early.
