(Reuters) – A U.S.-based utility Duke Power (NYSE:) mentioned Friday it filed a plan with the Florida Public Service Fee to recuperate roughly $1.1 billion in direct prices related to the corporate’s emergency activation and response to Hurricane Debby, Helene and Milton.
Duke, the biggest utility masking North and South Carolina, mentioned hurricanes have hit its service territories in latest months and torn down miles of transmission traces and energy poles, leaving tens of 1000’s of its prospects with out electrical energy.
The corporate mentioned Friday that residential prospects will face a rise of roughly $21 per 1,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electrical energy on their month-to-month payments in March 2025 in comparison with February 2025.
