Former NBA Lakers star Metta Sandiford-Artest (formerly known as Metta World Peace) has teamed up with Stephen Stokols, the former CEO of Boost Mobile, to launch Tru Skye Ventures, a company looking to invest in sports and health technologies, according to Sportico.
The company wants to raise $100 million and pay its first official check to performance beverage company Barcode, founded by former New York Knicks and LA Lakers chief performance officer Mubarak Malik, Sportico reported. The news comes after more athletes are moving into the venture capital field. Last month, Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo announced the launch from a company called Build Your Legacy to invest in sports and entertainment companies. Steph Curry, Serena Williams and Kevin Durant all have their own venture capital firms as well.
