PTW, a company that provides development and support services to game studios, today announced the opening of a new office in Charleston, South Carolina. According to PTW, it is the city's first gaming services office, with plans to create hundreds of jobs within a few years. This is PTW's fourth studio in North America, following the acquisition of the Fort Lauderdale-based independent studio. Ghost Strike Games earlier this year.
Bernhard Rieder will serve as studio head at PTW Charleston, reporting to Sébastien Bisch, PTW's vice president of operations for the Americas, and will oversee day-to-day operations. According to the company, the Charleston office will be equipped with next-generation testing facilities and will have high security certification, with the intention of utilizing local talent to offer services to its clients.
Bisch said in a statement: “To better serve our U.S.-based partners, we understand the importance of having a national quality assurance solution; the synergies are invaluable. Charleston emerged as the ideal location: it is a growing technology hub offering the perfect blend of proximity and highly skilled talent. PTW is excited to create a center of excellence for the industry within the vibrant Charleston community and we look forward to building a new flagship studio in the United States.
PTW has provided support services to studios such as 2K, Gearbox and Bethesda Game Studios, and its services include, among others, quality assurance, player support, localization, community management and collection of data. In addition to PTW Charleston and Ghostpunch in Fort Lauderdale, the company also has locations in Montreal and Los Angeles.
