iFixit announced its partnership with Microsoft in 2023 when it began offering official replacement parts for Microsoft Surface laptops. As part of this, it offers disassembly videos and step-by-step guides to simplify relatively complex repairs.
It does the same thing with Xbox, showing guides on replacing motherboards for each console, detailing each step and providing a list of required parts and tools. Motherboard repair, for example, requires 29 installation steps plus additional steps to put everything back together. However, so far the company has not released any videos like it did for Surface devices.
iFixit has similar deals with other tech giants, offering replacement parts for Google Pixel tablets And Google Pixel Fold devices. It also works with accessories maker Logitech, offering repair parts for two of its most popular mouse models. The main holdout is Apple, although iFixit recently gave the iPhone 16 a boost. correct repairability score after modifying the previous model due to software restricted “part coupling” requirements. Last month, the company ripped the PS5 Pro and I found it quite repairable, even though it doesn't sell any parts for the Sony console.
