I desperately need new faces under Ruben Amorim, Manchester United are now reportedly chasing a former Manchester City gem who has become a star player since leaving the Etihad.
Man Utd transfer news
The Red Devils got off to a mixed start under Amorim, who was always unlikely to make an instant impact from the start given the scale of the task facing him. Opening his tenure with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, the former Sporting Club boss has since beaten Bodo/Glimt 3-2, beaten Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford and suffered defeat in his first real test against Premier League Arsenal, title contender.
What has immediately become clear over the last four games is how much work remains to be done at Old Trafford. Manchester United simply need to get it right on the transfer front with Amorim in charge. Names such as Viktor Gyokeres And Nicholas Williams have already been linked with the Premier League giants and they must ensure that whoever arrives fits seamlessly into their new manager's system.
The attacking duo aren't the only ones making headlines of late, either. According to Bild via Sport Witness, Manchester United are now chasing the signing of Félix Nmechabecome a Bundesliga star since leaving Manchester City in 2021.
After sending scouts to monitor the midfield during Borussia Dortmund's recent 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich, Manchester United could hope to push back Newcastle United and Chelsea, who are also interested, in 2025. The deal will not, however cheap, as Dortmund are reportedly set to demand an “immoral amount of money” to part ways with Nmecha, who they signed for £25million.

The Red Devils could also tread very carefully, given that the last former Manchester City graduate to play for Borussia Dortmund before moving to Old Trafford was big-money flop Jadon Sancho.
The “Creative” Nmecha could join forces with Ugarte
As it stands, Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation has seen Bruno Fernandes return to a deeper midfield role alongside Manuel Ugarte, with Mason Mount and Alejandro Garnacho moving to both advanced roles . But the new manager appears to be content with the options he has, which makes the reinforcements all the more important.
Nmecha's arrival would give Ugarte a more natural partner and allow Fernandes to play a more advanced role in what would get the most out of the Manchester United captain.
Nmecha certainly looks set to finally make his mark in the Premier League after being turned down at Manchester City, having started seven of Dortmund's Bundesliga games so far this season, score twice and assist once from the midfield. It's also a rise that's been happening since his days at Wolfsburg, when U23 recruiter Antonio Mango described the midfielder as “creative”.
Potentially attempting the task that Sancho left incomplete, Nmecha could come back to haunt Manchester City by joining their arch rivals in 2025.
