In a tragic hit-and-run in Mumbai, a young model lost her life after being hit by a tanker in the upscale Bandra district.
The victim, Shivani Singh, 25, a resident of Malad, was riding a motorcycle with her friend when the accident occurred.
The tanker allegedly hit them on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Bandra around 8 pm on Friday, sources were quoted as saying by NDTV.
Singh was thrown from the motorcycle due to the impact and tragically ended up under the wheels of the speeding tanker, sources said. Her friend, however, survived the incident.
The driver of the tanker truck fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.
Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the driver responsible.
In recent months, Mumbai has witnessed several fatal hit-and-run accidents. Some of these incidents involved high-profile figures, including relatives of political leaders or businessmen, and luxury vehicles such as BMWs or Porsches.
