Trisha Shetty, founder of SheSays, has claimed IndiGo staff were unhelpful after her mother was allegedly “robbed” on a flight with the airline. In response to his social media post, IndiGo asked for his contact details, assuring him that it would resolve the issue quickly.
“Dear IndiGo, My mother was robbed on your flight 6E 17. The flight crew kept her purse in the overhead compartment. When she fell asleep, a passenger took her bag. Luckily, she woke up as he was putting his bag back. Your team refused to help him file a complaint. They made excuses for the thief,” Shetty wrote.
“It was thanks to the other passengers who supported mom that she got her things back. Many other passengers complained that the thief was also going through their belongings. Your crew handled the situation terribly. Hoping this issue is resolved, being robbed in the open is deeply disturbing,” she added. Business Today was unable to independently verify this claim.
The airline responded with a standard message in the comments section of Shetty's post, stating: “Ms. Shetty, we are concerned to hear this and would like to communicate with you on this matter. I request you to share your details via DM so that we can help you at the earliest. ~Team IndiGo.
On social networks, reactions were quick. One X user commented: “The crew is siding with the thief? This is a new low. Another wrote: “This is the reason why it is considered the worst airline in India. I still feel butterflies in my stomach when I remember my experience of traveling from Hyd to Jabalpur on a flight that felt like a mediocre highway bus. A third user added: “Wow! This is a new low.
“No point texting them and hoping they will take some responsibility. They have been ranked among the worst airlines in the world, which automatically makes them the worst airline in India. Sorry for your traumatic experience, Trisha,” one person wrote.
The “AirHelp Score 2024 Report” ranked IndiGo 103rd out of 109 airlines analyzed, placing it among the worst airlines in the world this year.
In response, IndiGo disputed these findings. According to PTI, the airline said, “does not disclose the Indian sample size or take into account the methodology or compensation guidelines used by the global aviation industry, which casts doubt on its credibility.
