Renee Slegers has provided an injury update on her Arsenal side ahead of their clash with Aston Villa in the Women's Super League this Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
Slegers faced the media after confirmation she will remain the interim head coach from the north London club until the Christmas holidays.
The 35-year-old provided an update on Lia Walti, who withdrew from the Swiss national team ahead of the recent international break.
“Lia is recovering well,” Slegers updated. “She’s still in Switzerland, so we’ll see when she comes back.”
Steph Catley also raised concerns after the defender was withdrawn from the Australian squad to face Brazil during the week. Slegers confirmed Catley will be fit to face the Villans after “looking good” during Friday's “full session”.
Slegers also provided an update on the fitness of Victoria Pelova, who ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament earlier in the year. Slegers confirmed the Netherlands international was back training with the team in “some sessions”.
Good news arrived from north London as Amanda Ilestedt returned to the training center after giving birth to her first child earlier in the year.
Slegers confirmed Ilestedt was “back in the building” and training with a few players during the international break.
She said: “It's nice to have Amanda back in the building with a little baby. It's a lovely addition. I think it brings a new dynamic. It will take time, it's a great thing that happens to the female body to give birth but she is doing very well as far as the schedule goes. I can't share a specific schedule with you, but she was training with us.
