WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Romanians must be assured that their elections will be free from malign foreign influence, the U.S. State Department said on Friday, after Romania's highest court annulled the ongoing presidential election following accusations of Russian interference.
“The United States reaffirms its confidence in Romania’s democratic institutions and processes, including investigations into malign foreign influence,” the department said in a statement.
