President-elect Donald Trump has aggressively deployed his picks to serve in his cabinet and other important positions. Thursday was no different as he focused on picks who would work hard to secure the border and carry out a mass deportation operation.
Trump added nominees for Homeland Security and Immigration, nominating Rodney Scott as Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Caleb Vitello as Acting Director of Immigration and Enforcement of Customs (ICE) and Tony Salisbury as deputy. Internal Security Advisor (White House Homeland Security Council).
RODNEY SCOTT
Scott is a former Border Patrol chief who served as chief from 2020 until his ouster by the Biden administration in mid-2021. Since then, he has been a fierce critic of the Biden administration's immigration policies and its handling of the crisis at the southern border.
Before becoming chief, he managed the San Diego sector, one of the most demanding sectors in the country. He has been a vocal critic of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and recently accused him of “intentionally” opening the southern border.

“Rodney served almost three decades in the Border Patrol, gaining extensive experience and knowledge in law enforcement and border security. Rodney served as the 24th chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, where he implemented the Remain in Mexico program, Title 42, Third-Party Security Agreements, and achieved record levels of illegal immigration,” Trump said in a statement on Truth Social. “He began his career with the Border Patrol in 1992 at the Imperial Beach Station, San Diego Sector. Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, he served as counterterrorism advisor to the CBP Commissioner and then as deputy executive director of the CBP Office of Counterterrorism.

Vitello served at National White House Security Council as Director of Domestic Law Enforcement as well as Unit Chief and Deputy Assistant Director of the National Fugitive Operations Program within the ERO Law Enforcement Division.
“A member of the Senior Executive Service, with over 23 years of service with ICE, Caleb currently serves as Deputy Director of the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs, where he oversees training, equipment and policy at “Agency-wide to ensure officers and the public are kept safe,” Trump said in a statement released Thursday evening on Truth Social.

TONY SALISBURY
Salisbury currently serves as Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami.
He served as Acting Deputy Associate Executive Director (EAD) for the entire ICE/HSI staff and previously held key leadership positions, both in the field and at ICE/HIS headquarters.
Trump emphasized that he was particularly successful in “all of the complex areas of HSI.” Federal law enforcement investigative programs related to national security and contraband violations, including counter-proliferation, financial crimes, commercial fraud, human trafficking, human trafficking, narcotics trafficking, transnational gangs, cybercrime, child exploitation, workplace repression, and document and benefits fraud.
