Democratic U.S. Senator Ron Wyden introduced a brand new invoice aimed toward securing U.S. phone networks and People' communications in response to massive piracy telecommunications suppliers allegedly dedicated by Chinese government hackers.
In a press launch Tuesday, Wyden introduced the US Secure Communications Act. The invoice would direct the Federal Communications Fee to “implement particular cybersecurity necessities” requiring telecommunications suppliers to conduct annual testing to evaluate the vulnerability of their networks; rent unbiased auditors to make sure telecom carriers are complying with new FCC cybersecurity guidelines; and submit documentation from testing and audits in addition to an announcement from the CEO and Chief Info Safety Officer that the telecommunications provider is in compliance with FCC guidelines.
“Congress should step up and move obligatory safety guidelines to lastly safe our telecommunications system from an infestation of hackers and spies,” Wyden mentioned within the press launch.
